This is an early popular work by Sh. (Atey), published in 1925 and dedicated to “the cause of the liberation of all wives, sisters, mothers and daughters”. The author focuses on the problem of attitudes towards women in various religious traditions as a separate aspect of the female issue as a whole. The brochure is designed for a broad readers’ auditorium and for agitators. It was based on the study of religious texts and atheistic literature and covered a wide range of religions – from Classical antiquity to national religions of the East, and three ‘world religions’. The work was sustained in the Marxist trend, so, religion is interpreted there as an instrument of class domination and oppression of masses.
