Thos monograph was the Master thesis in Theology defended by N. at the Kazan Spiritual Academy in 1900.
The work is interesting not only as a history of a specific religious educational institution of the Russian Empire (which is also valuable, since the Voronezh Regional Archives suffered during the WWII, and only two storage units remained from the Voronezh Seminary fund), but also as a presentation of the history of theological education in the Russian Empire in the period from 1745 to 1874. The main sources for the research were the archives of the Voronezh Seminary, the Synodal Archives, as well as materials stored in other archival collections of the Russian Empire. In particular, the author used a manuscript, the author of which was probably Evgeny Bolkhovitinov, containing an overview of the Seminary history up to 1786.
Beside the official information on the organization of teaching in the Seminary, the monograph contains many testimonies about teachers, the life and study of seminarians, which makes it an important source for studying the everyday life of the Seminary.
