Beside the Doctor thesis ‘The History of the Dogmatic Movement at the Epoch of the Ecumenical Councils’ (vol. 1: the Trinitarian Problem. The History of the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity) (Sergiev Posad, Holy Trinity Lavra Typography, 1906), Professor of the Moscow Spiritual Academy A. A. Spassky wrote the book ‘Hellenism and Christianity: the History of Literary-Religious Polemics between Hellenism and Christianity in the Earliest Period of the Christian History (150-254)’. In the both works he studied the history of the shaping of Christian dogmas in the frames of cultural-historical methods of research Christianity; and so he used historical and philosophical material. The author compared positions toward Christianity expressed in the dialogue ‘Octavius’ by Minutius Felix, works by Lucian of Samosata, and in apology ‘Contra Celsum’ by Origen.
