The publication describes Shamanic drums and some rites connected with them on the base of observing Teleuts of Altai. The described drums were got from Teleut Shamans in the early twentieth century; and in 1912, they were gifted to the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography by A.V. Anokhin. According the words by D., they were “the last drums of the last Teleut Shamans”.

The author describes the rites of creating and changing of drums in a detailed way. She fixed some Shamanic claiming used in the course of creating a new drum and addressed to the drum and to its elements, to some helping spirits, as well as to the spirits of heavens; besides, the author gives a detailed description of symbols of the Teleut drums and analyzes their semantic.

The work is completed with a lot of illustrations.
