It is a publication of Greek liturgical manuscripts gathered and prepared by D. in nine expeditions to monasteries of Greece and the Near East. Thanks to that monumental work, those monuments were not only introduced to scholars, but also preserved, because some of those original manuscripts were lost later. The first volume contains texts of ecclesiastic charters of Orthodox Church, without which it would be impossible to study the history of the liturgical tradition and Christianity, in general. In the introduction, the author describes manuscripts in a detailed way, he analyzes the specific of their content, gives comments on various Rules and charters of these and those monasteries, and the reasons of such variety. He published the texts, but he made something more: he shaped a system of studying such manuscripts and their analytical description; in fact, at the Kazan Ecclesiastic Academy he built a school of historical and archaeological research of ecclesiastic tradition.
