In the booklet, the author retells some legends of the city of Nizhny Novgorod. It was the first collection of local folk narrations. The booklet was opened with toponymic legends about the origin of the city, and about the names of its various loci (Dytlova Mnt.) and buildings (Koromyslova Tower). Then, there are legends about some historical persons (Tsar bride Maria Kholopova, and others). The author retells also some stories about a local witch-woman, an owner of an inn at the road to the city.
